6 TIPS TO KEEP YOUR LUNGS HEALTHY

“You won’t feel pain until it is 80% damage” is what Dr. Tan, Expert in respiratory- Father of Tiger Milk Mushroom said when he told me about lungs.

“We don’t have nerves in our lungs…that’s why you don’t feel pain even when it’s 20% or 50% damage. But when it reaches 80%, you start to get symptoms like chronic cough, chest pain, wheezing, difficulty in breathing…”

LET’S DISCUSS SIX COMMON SIGNS OF DAMAGED LUNGS;

SIGN #1: CHRONIC COUGH

When a cough lasts for over a month, it is considered chronic in nature. In all likelihood, medication has been tried and as failed. This should be taken as a sign that something is wrong with the respiratory system.

SIGN #2: PERSISTENT MUCUS PRODUCTION

When our airways are irritated or infected, they will produce mucus (or phlegm) as a defense. If this incessant mucus production lasts longer than a month, it may be a warning sign of lung problems.

SIGN #3: LASTING CHEST PAIN

Chest pain that inexplicably last for longer than a month may be a warning sign. It’s a sign that the lungs are involved if the chest pain is brought on, or made worse, from inhaling, exhaling or coughing.

SIGN #4: SHORTNESS OF BREATH

When shortness of breath occurs, it is usually due to a heart of lung condition. This symptom can be narrowed down to either/or, since both are involved in the transport of oxygen to tissues and the removal of carbon dioxide. When either one of these problems occurs, it results in shortness of breath.

SIGN #5: COUGHING BLOOD

When coughing up blood occurs, it’s always a problem with either the lungs or the upper respiratory tract. Needless to say, this is something that requires immediate attention; as it may signal a severe health problem.

SIGN #6: WHEEZING

Wheezing is a high-pitched whistling sound that usually occurs when breathing out (exhaling), but may occur when breathing in. This is usually a sign that a foreign object is blocking the normal flow of air into the lungs or constricting the lung’s airways.

So…..

“You won’t want to go through all these first only then you take action, right?”

“You won’t wait until your lungs are 80% damaged only then you start to care, right?”

Of course not ! We have only a pair of lungs in our lifetime, we should really take good care of it!

Having healthy lungs is vital to our overall health. If we are not getting enough oxygen as a result of some kind of lung disorder then every area of our body suffers. Receiving an adequate amount of oxygen is necessary for our body to function properly.

So, without wasting any time, I did some study on how we can clean and keep our lungs healthy. These are really good tips, you might want to consider doing it, like right now !

6 TIPS TO KEEP YOUR LUNGS HEALTHY:

TIP #1: STOP SMOKING

Don’t smoke. It’s the No. 1 cause of lung cancer deaths and a major risk factor for lung infections and disease, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Be aware of second hand smoker; non-smokers who breathe in secondhand smoke take in nicotine and other toxic chemicals just like smokers do.

Third hand smoke is residual nicotine and other chemicals left on indoor surfaces by tobacco smoke. People are exposed to these chemicals by touching contaminated surfaces or breathing in the off-gassing from these surfaces.

So, although you may not be a smoker, but if you have a smoker in the house, you might want to ask them to stop.

TIP #2: EXERCISE

For overall health, most healthy adults should get 150 minutes of moderate physical activity or 75 minutes of vigorous activity per week. Any exercise that gets your heart rate up counts—be it swimming, cycling, gardening, or brisk walking.

As you work out, your lungs work out, too. They boost the oxygen supply to the body for energy and remove carbon dioxide. The heart, in turn, circulates more oxygen to your muscles. You may feel out of breath after exercising, but you should not feel breathless. Regular exercise makes that process more efficient, so you use less oxygen and become less winded over time.

TIP #3: CLEAN YOUR HOUSE FILTERS

Start cleansing your lungs by improving the quality of the air in your home. Along with getting an air purifier, you should change all of the filters in your home and clean all vents, such as those in the bathroom or your air conditioning or heating vents. Be sure to replace your furnace filter at least every six months.

TIP #4: DEEP BREATHING & YOGA

Doing deep-breathing exercises can improve your lungs’ efficiency, maintain healthy lungs, and help people with respiratory diseases learn to breathe better.

Try pursed-lip breathing for half an hour a day: Breathe in through your nose and then breathe out slowly through pursed lips as if blowing out a candle. Your exhale should be two to three times longer than the inhale.

This practice flushes out many of the impurities that accumulate in the lungs. Meditation and yoga are two great practices to take on for this purpose, and they will help with the mental aspect of purification as well.

TIP #5: AVOID NOXIOUS FUMES AND POLLUTANTS

Airborne pollutants affect people in different ways, but they are almost always bad for your lungs. Tiny foreign particles (think automobile exhaust and other pollutants) can get lodged in your respiratory system and trigger an inflammatory response, while inhaling toxins can destroy lung tissue.

Of course, you can’t fully control everything you breathe, although wearing a mask can help

It’s also smart to minimize your exposure as much as possible when working with known irritants and toxins, like oil-based paints, fiberglass, pesticides, or household chemicals.

TIP 6#: TAKE TIGER MILK MUSHROOM

Tiger milk mushroom can effectively clean our lungs and reduce inflammations of the lung cells through its high antioxidant content and anti-inflammatory activity. It has been used since hundreds of years ago as a remedy for respiratory problems by the natives in the Rainforest countries, and only recently, its therapeutic benefits been exquisitely studied and proven to be very beneficial for the lungs.

The natives used to ground the tuber of the mushroom and mix with water. It gives a white colour like milk and it taste somewhat like milk. Why they are called tiger milk mushroom? Because the natives believe that it only grows where the milk of the mother tiger drops.

It is rather difficult to find this mushroom since it doesn’t grow in bundle like most mushrooms do. They also grow only within a 5km radius, but most of the time they stay under the ground. So finding one can be a very lucky sign for the natives!
